Return to Your Natural State

A sanctuary where self-reflection, compassionate stewardship, and the rhythms of nature come together.

A quiet sanctuary in the Arizona desert, for anyone seeking space to slow down and reconnect with themselves.

It is also a cat sanctuary — a colony in the garden, kittens raised indoors until they are ready for homes. Every stay feeds and cares for them all.

Rooted in awareness, personal responsibility, and respect for all living beings. A place that values stillness over urgency, presence over performance, and compassion over competition.

A Different Kind of Sanctuary

Most places ask you to do more. We invite you to do less.

A place to observe rather than react, to listen rather than rush, and to remember what becomes possible when we make space for quiet.

Here, the desert becomes a teacher. The resident cats become reminders of patience, presence, and trust.

This is not a resort, and not a traditional retreat. It is an invitation to a different rhythm of living.

Your stay at work

Staying here cares for the cats

Staying with us provides the cats with food, access to medical care, vaccinations, and spay and neuter services.

The sanctuary and the household are the same thing. There is no separate fund and no middle step — what you pay for a quiet room in the desert is what buys the next round of kitten formula and the next surgery.

The colony in the garden has been trapped, treated, and returned. But kittens still arrive, and kittens need more: warmth, frequent feeding, vaccinations, and gentle hands early enough that they can one day belong to someone. That is the work this place was started for.

Our Mission

Meaningful change begins from within

A sanctuary where people can cultivate greater awareness while caring for the living world around them.

Personal Growth

Experiences that encourage self-awareness, emotional resilience, and intentional living.

Environmental Stewardship

Protecting the land, supporting local wildlife, and expanding compassionate care for community cats.

Community

A place where people from all walks of life can gather in mutual respect, curiosity, and kindness.

When we care for ourselves with greater intention, we begin caring for one another — and for the world we share.

The T.A.R. Framework

Three simple practices — Thoughts, Actions, and Reactions — offering a practical way to cultivate awareness in everyday life. Not rigid rules, and not fixed beliefs.

Thoughts

Observe with clarity

Learning to notice your thoughts without immediately believing, resisting, or being controlled by them. Through reflection, meditation, journaling, and stillness, you create space between yourself and the noise of the mind.

Actions

Live with intention

Bringing presence into everything we do, from creative work and meaningful conversations to the smallest ordinary routines — so that our outward lives reflect our deepest values.

Reactions

Respond with wisdom

We cannot control every circumstance, but we can slow the nervous system, stay grounded during challenge, and choose thoughtful responses over automatic habits.

Four Ways to Experience the Temple

Every visitor begins somewhere different.

Life at the Sanctuary

Slowing down is part of the experience

The Temple exists first as a home for its cats, and as a place of reflection for those who visit. Guests move gently through the property, honoring the environment and one another.

Quiet mornings with cats on the windowsill. Creative afternoons. Kittens asleep in a patch of sun. Evenings beneath desert skies.

You will share the house with them. Some will study you from across the room for a day before deciding anything. Others will be in your lap within the hour. Both are the experience.

The sanctuary asks very little. Only that you arrive with curiosity, move with care, and leave the place a little better than you found it.

An Invitation

You do not need to have all the answers before arriving, or to follow a particular path, or to believe what anyone else believes.

You only need a willingness to observe your own experience honestly, and an openness to what becomes possible when the noise begins to quiet.

Every lasting transformation begins with a single moment of awareness.
